On 1 November 2007, British Standards will release the first ever British Standard for business continuity BS 25999. Interest within business circles is intense and as an indicator when the draft version was posted on the British Standards website earlier this year, it was downloaded over 5000 times and received 100’s of comments. The likes of which have not been seen since ISO 9001 was released.

BS 25999 is a comprehensive non-prescriptive framework that can be applied to any industry, from insurance to waste management, and any business from multi-national to home office. It is outcome-focused and draws upon all facets of an organisation’s capabilities.  Given the emphasis of the supply-chain in today’s business environment don’t wait for disaster to strike, be business continuity ready and enhance your business resilience.
