The IP Australia risk initiative focused on using the implementation of the ISO 9001 quality standard certification to deliver a comprehensive risk management assessment and mitigation strategy for over 400 customer transactions and 1000 processes. Doing so radically reduced checking and unnecessary controls by almost 20 percent whilst improving business outcomes and service experiences for its customers. The initiative also identified a number of processes and customer interactions that were re-engineered to deliver better service. The initiative helped to transform the culture of IP Australia to better embrace risk management principles and proactively integrate these into its environment. This has enabled IP Australia to significantly improve its management and mitigation of business risks and deliver improved strategic and operational outcomes. Intellectual Property has grown to become a multi billion dollar global industry and is recognised as a key element in the innovative economy of the future. IP Australia is using its risk management initiative to undertake a strong leadership role in addressing global IP issues and establish a model that is being adopted by a number of international IP Offices. IP Australia, through its partnership with NCS International, is pleased to have further built upon its strong reputation of quality service delivery and risk management, which is enabling IP Australia to deliver upon its vision of becoming an ‘Office of Choice’ in a highly competitive global IP environment. |
