WaterMark

The WaterMark is a registered certification Trademark owned by Standards Australia, the rules of which are set out in Rules for the WaterMark Certification Trademarks.

The WaterMark is a mandatory certification scheme used in relation to water supply, sewerage, plumbing and drainage goods.

In Australia, under the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) requirements, most of the plumbing and drainage products and materials are required to be certified under the WaterMark program before they can legally be used in installations connected to the public infrastructure.

Whilst the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) nationally sets out the general objectives procedures and processes for the certification and authorisation of these products further and more specific requirements are set up and supported by the Australian Standard AS5200 and also the miscellaneous publication MP52, both published by the relevant committees of Standards Australia.

As a JAS-ANZ accredited certification body for the WaterMark program, NCSI plays a very important role in this area of certification and will surely help you in satisfying your certification needs for these programs.

WaterMark Certification Levels

The WMCS provides for two levels of certification:

WaterMark Level 1—requires products comply with a specific Australian or International Standard or other suitable published document. Typical products that require WaterMark Level 1 certification include; Taps and Valves, Sanitary Fixtures, Pipes & Fittings, Water Heaters and High Hazard Appliances.

WaterMark Level 2—requires that products comply with a specific Australian or International Standard or other suitable published document, including product type testing. Typical products that require WaterMark Level 2 certification include; Sanitary and Drainage pipes, fittings and valves and Low-Medium Hazard Appliances.

WorldStar Product Certification Scheme (WPC) – What is it?

NCSI also offers a certification scheme for other plumbing and drainage products that are not required to be WaterMark certified. The NCSI WorldStar Product Certification Scheme (WPCS) requires that products comply with the applicable Standards or Specifications and are certified in accordance with the principles of ISO/IEC Guide 67, System 5 which includes on-going compliance testing and annual factory surveillance audits, covering production/manufacturing processes, compliance testing capabilities and Product marking.
