AS 4707 Chain of Custody
Certification against the Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard provides independent verification of wood or forest product from its origin in a certified forest through to its end use as a wood or forest product by the consumer, even accounting for virgin and recycled timbers.
Importantly NCSI verification will review intermediate steps such as harvesting, transportation, primary and secondary processing, manufacturing, re-manufacturing, distribution and sales.
In Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region, most organisations involved in the production of wood or manufacturing of wood and fibre products operate under an internationally recognised standard for sustainable forest management or an associated standard for Chain of Custody for wood products.
Chain of Custody certification ensures that wood or wood products are derived from forests managed in accordance with the principles of sustainable forest management.
“A systematic approach to forest management and chain of custody provides business confidence”
It’s a way of providing consumers and retailers with confidence in the production system behind the products they consume. Consumers and Retailers are becoming more discerning when it comes to the selection of products and services and are concerned about the environment, social consequences and practices employed in the growing and harvesting of the trees from which the wood products are sourced. NCSI is Australia’s leading certification body for forestry & timber certification.
NCSI can provide certification for AS 4707 for all stages of the wood production process and products. Specialising in forest management, NCSI employees can help you with the development and implementation of your management system, as well as your certification needs.
