Environmental Management Systems Workshop for Govt Agencies

Introduction and who should attend:
This workshop is a two day practical session that allows delegates to develop their system as they learn. This workshop is aimed at low enironmental risk government agencies who wish to develop, implement and certify their own environmental management system (EMS) based on ISO 14001:2004.
It is suitable for those responsible for environmental compliance within Commonwealth Government departments such as Environmantal Safety Officers, Compliance Managers etc
Course objectives:
On completion of the course participants will have an understanding of:
- the requirements of ISO 14001:2004;
- documentation requirements of ISO 14001:2004;
- how an environmental management system supports compliance with environmental legislation and reduces exposure to prosecution;
- how to develop an environmental management system that identifies and manages environmental issues;
- how an environmental management system can be used to improve environmental performance.
Delegates will have completed a work book containing the documentation that is mandatory to comply with ISO14001:2004. Soft copies of the workbook documents will be supplied to transpose the information and create the basic documentation required for the EMS.
Course outline
This course covers:
- benefits of ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems;
- the requirements of ISO 14001:2004;
- environmental management principles;
- the relationship between the EMS and environmental legislation;
- development of effective EMS documentation;
- identifying environmental aspects and impacts;
- assessing risk/significance of environmental aspects;
- developing environmental pollices, objectives and targets;
- implementing effective internal audit and system review processes.
Course Outcomes
A Certificate of Completion of the EMS workshop will be issued.
