    USE OF THE NCS INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION MARK AND VERIFICATION STATEMENT

    After an organisation’s greenhouse gas (GHG) assertion/report/carbon disclosure covering a defined reporting period is verified and granted certification by NCS International, it may use the NCS International ISO 14064 Certification Mark and the Verification Statement to promote that the GHG report has been independently verified as complying with requirements of ISO 14064-1 or ISO 14064-2.  NCS International encourages certified organisations to use the Certification Mark and Verification Statement to promote certification of their specific GHG assertion/report subject to the following controls and limitations which ensure public confidence in the integrity of the certified GHG assertion/report:

    1.    The Certification Mark must not misrepresent the scope of certification and the GHG inventory boundary to which it applies. It relates directly to the GHG inventory boundary, physical locations, products, services, or activities detailed in the Scope of Certification issued by NCS International.

    2.    The Certification Mark must be used together with the NCS International Verification Statement to communicate and promote the organisation’s certification. Use of the Certification Mark must refer to the specific organisation and/or facilities whose GHG inventory boundary has been verified and certified by NCS International.  Readers must have ready access to the relevant NCS International’s Verification Statement about the GHG assertion/report and any qualifications or limitations.

    3.    The Certification Mark cannot be used in any way to imply certification of:

    a) a parent company which is not included in the GHG inventory;
    b) a subsidiary company which is not included in the GHG inventory;
    c) another company/entity ¬ that has any connection with the certified organisation (e.g. a supplier, a purchaser, a consultant to the company, a franchise, etc), which is not included in the verified and certified GHG inventory;
    d) a company whose certification has been withdrawn or suspended by NCS International Pty Limited.

    4.    Any statement taken from the GHG assertion/report for communication purposes must clearly state:

    a)    where it came from, including the date of the GHG assertion/report;
    b)    whether the statement is based on historical data;
    c)    any limitations or qualifications associated with the statement.

    The Certification Mark must not be used in any manner that implies, or creates the impression, that NCS International certifies a particular product or service. It may not be directly used on products. Where the Certification Mark is used on packaging materials (including labels attached to packaging), it must be used in manner that does not imply certification of the product which is packed (or to which the labels are attached).

    Provided the aforementioned guidelines are followed, the Mark may be used in:

    •    corporate correspondence
    •    advertising material
    •    corporate brochures
    •    promotional material

    REPRODUCING THE MARKS

    The requirements detailed below are applicable to the reproduction of all NCS International certification marks:

    a) Size: The Mark can be reproduced in any size providing the relative proportions of the Mark are not distorted or altered. For very small reproductions of the Mark, such as for use on business cards, the wording under the bottom line of the marks may be omitted for the sake of legibility.

    b) Wording: Except for the above modification for small reproductions, no alterations to the style or content of the wording of the Mark are permitted.  Companies can, however, add their organisation’s certification number beneath the Mark if they wish, provided it is done in a style harmonious with the Mark.

    c) Colours: The Mark may be reproduced in either four-colour, spot colour or monotone formats.  The Mark may also be reproduced reversed in white on a coloured background, and for business cards and stationery only, the Mark may be reproduced in any single colour to match existing printing.
