Sofitel beats five-star costars to earn HACCP food management accreditation

Leading by example, the Sofitel Melbourne hotel has shown a proactive interest in food management to earn its HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) accreditation.  The Sofitel Melbourne is the first five-star hotel in Victoria to achieve HACCP recognition.

Now an internationally regarded program, HACCP is the leading food management and traceability system used worldwide to allow food to be monitored from the time delivery is made to a loading dock through its refridgeration and preparation and onto guests’ tables.

Sofitel Melbourne’s Executive Chef John Savage says the hotel is now leading the way in food excellence for others in the hospitality and accommodation industries by investing in and implementing the cutting edge program. Full Story

National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations and Determination released

The Department of Climate Change has announced that the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations 2008 (NGER Regulations) and the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008 (NGER Determination) have been listed on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI). A new National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System Calculator to help corporations estimate their emissions and energy use is also now available online. Full Story

5 Stars for Quality in the Tourism Industry – The Observatory Port Macquarie

At the recent 2008 National Hotel and Motel Accommodation Associations (HMAA) National Industry Conference, the Accommodation Industry Award for Excellence 2008 (Serviced Apartments) was awarded to The Observatory Port Macquarie.

In addition The Observatory Port Macquarie was proclaimed as winner of the major conference award - The Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence 2008 - "Operator of the Year".  Achieving the industry’s highest praise is recognition of a lot of hard work and effort.

NCSI has launched ‘MI-Cert’, a new certification program tailored to Medical Imaging Practices.

Green Papers and Workshops

NCS International will be presenting a paper entitled: 'Are you ready to report against the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act from 1 July 2008?' which presents an update on the single national system for reporting greenhouse gas emissions, abatement actions, and energy consumption and production by corporations from 1 July 2008.  It will be presented at the Second National EMS Forum, held in Newcastle later this year.

NCS International will also be hosting a workshop entitled: ‘mygreenaudit’ – what can a green audit deliver business today, and a ‘how to’ session, which outlines emerging issues in green auditing.
