    Safety Management Systems Auditor/Lead Auditor Course

    Introduction and who should attend

    This intensive five day training course is based on the guidelines of ISO 19011:2002 and is designed for:

    • auditors and lead auditors who are required to conduct assessments and audits of occupational health and safety management systems based on AS/NZS 4801:2001 and OHSAS 18001:2007;
    • people who are responsible for developing and implementing occupational health and safety management systems based on AS/NZS 4801:2001 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

    Delegates will be issued with copies of the AS/NZS 4801 Standard for use during the course. However, to complete the assessment activities delegates will need access to their own copy of the Standard. Hard copies can be purchased during the enrolment process for delivery during the course.

    NCSI Pty Limited is certified under the RABQSA International Training Provider Examination Certification Scheme (TPECS) to provide training and examination of competency for occupational health and safety management system auditors.

    Course outcomes

    On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment covering the following competencies under the RABQSA International TPECS:

    • RABQSA – OH Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
    • RABQSA – AU Management Systems Auditing
    • RABQSA – TL Leading Management Systems Audit Teams

    This certificate enables successful candidates to apply to RABQSA International for certification as a provisional auditor.

    Course outline

    The SMS auditor / lead auditor course covers:

    • the requirements of AS/NZS 4801:2001, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 19011:2003;
    • application of OH&S legislation;
    • identifying safety hazards and risk assessment;
    • documentation and record requirements;
    • planning, organising and conducting assessments and audits, including preparation of checklists, designing audit programs and writing effective audit reports;
    • human aspects of assessments and audits including effective information gathering techniques;
    • qualifications and characteristics of effective auditors.

    The course includes a number of activities that are used to assess the competence of participants against the RABQSA International competency requirements.

    Fees: $2200 (GST exempt)
    Includes comprehensive course notes, lunch & refreshments and issue of certificates.
