The Steps to Independent Certification to an ISO Management System Standard

Introduction and who should attend

This course demystifies the process most organisations go through to achieve certification of their management system. This is a step by step guide that outlines and distinguishes between the development of the system itself and the process to have the system certified as complying with the relevant Standard. The course is illustrated with examples from ISO standards such as Quality, Environment, Safety and Food Safety.

Anyone contemplating the implementation or certification of a management system will gain an insight into the process and potential pitfalls of proceeding with Certification. These could include: Organisation principals and managers; newly appointed QA managers recently assigned the role of getting the system certified; champions of management systems whose certification has lapsed and seek guidance on re-obtaining certification.

• The potential benefits and costs of a management system
• The Compliance audit steps
• The cycle of audits to maintain certification
• The potential costs of certification and methods to minimise the costs and to maximise the benefits of the management system.
• At the end of the session participants will also be aware of how to asses the status of their own system and where to begin toward certification.
